Not too far from downtown Waco is Cameron Park, a wide expanse of 416 acres. The park itself is home to two beautiful rivers, plenty of trees, and an awesome trail system that is fun for the whole family. It also has three Waco, TX playgrounds: Anniversary Park, Northern Gateway Park, and Pecan Bottoms. Northern Gateway Park’s playground is known for its accessible equipment, while Pecan Bottoms is loved for its splash pad! Whether you’re looking to climb, swing, slide, or even get a little wet, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at Cameron Park.

Mountainview Park

Families with Waco, TX little ones who love spotting fire trucks will LOVE the playground at Mountainview Park. Its equipment is designed to look just like a fire engine, painted bright red and yellow. There is plenty to climb and explore and so many opportunities to rev up imaginations. The park itself also has amenities like a splash pad, tennis courts, and grassy sports fields. Wind down after (or warm up before!) playing on the playground with a walk around their paved walking trail. 

North Waco Park

North Waco Park is a lovely open area with plenty of shady spots that are great for picnicking, reading, and playing outside. The playground equipment is pretty simplistic, but it’s also covered by a large tarp that provides plenty of protection from the hot Texas sun. There are multiple slides, swings, bridges, and plenty of opportunities for climbing. North Waco Park also has a basketball court, picnic tables, and a paved walking trail.

Kendrick Park

Kendrick Park is a wonderful Waco, TX outdoor oasis and playground with something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Little ones will love their dynamic splash pad and a fun, updated playground. The playground itself is partially shaded, which is great for hot summer days. A large covered pavilion next to the playground area is perfect for a snack break or picnic. There are also grassy sports fields, paved walking trails, grills, and a basketball court. It’s a great place to spend the day as a family! 

Pecan Bottoms 

Cameron Park Drive, Waco, TX 76701

We briefly talked about Pecan Bottoms in Cameron Park, but it really does deserve its own shout-out! Located along the Brazos River Trail, it’s the perfect spot for burning off some energy outside. They have a large playground area that’s partially shaded by trees and a wheelchair-accessible splash pad where everyone can play together. There’s also nearby fishing, a disc golf course, and some great designated picnic areas.
