In Texas, we’re no strangers to the heat! We’ve spent our entire lives figuring out how to adjust to the warm temps. For many, this means camping out in the living room with a Netflix documentary and the AC on full blast. And while this is a delightful way to spend an afternoon, it tends to make you feel a little restless after a while. If you’re looking for a way to shake up your normal routine, I’d love to tell you about some of my favorite Waco summer activities. Whether you’re looking for something for the entire family or just need a way to stretch those legs, I’m positive it’s the perfect remedy for those summertime blues.
Since the sport was first popularized in the 1960s, most of us have had dreams at one point or another of being a surfer. Waco Surf now makes it possible! This water sports facility lets you hire a private coach so you can learn how to catch waves like a pro. On top of their surfing lessons, they provide wakeboarding lessons, a cable park, and a water park that will keep you feeling cool on the hottest days. You can visit at 5347 Old Mexia Road.
The Waco River Cruise Tour takes you along the Brazos River for a unique perspective! The attraction was named the #1 Best Boat Tour in North America by USA Today. Over two hours and fifteen minutes, you’ll hear stories from your captain centered on the past and present of this river. You’ll also see legendary sights as well as plenty of wildlife! The tour is seasonal and will only run with four or more guests. So, it’s ideal to get out with your friends or family. Check them out at 215 S. University Parks Dr., Suite 104.
Oh, Chip and Joanna Gaines, what would we do without you? Since Fixer Upper debuted back in 2013, it’s taken the country by storm, turning the famous silos into a pilgrimage for home decor fanatics. Magnolia provides plenty of activities for the entire family. You can check out events throughout the summer, including live concerts, lawn games, and markets. You can dine at their restaurants, get sweet nourishment from their bakeries, buy a lovely accent piece from their home decor store, and even stay at houses designed by Chip and Jo themselves! Visit the Magnolia campus at 601 Webster Avenue.
Brazos Nights has spent over 30 years bringing in big acts and spectacular firework shows so Texans can start the season right. The concerts are always free, and the food is consistently incredible! Eat some barbeque and grab an ice cream cone before checking out acts like Shakey Graves, Jackie Venson, Asleep at the Wheel, and Jimmie Vaughan. You can find the performances at 100 North University Parks Drive.
If you’re ready to have the best season ever, take some time to check out these Waco summer activities! I guarantee you’ll have a day worth remembering!
