While Texas always has an endless number of summer activities, some days, all you really want is to veg out by the pool with a good book and plenty of sunscreen. If the summer heat starts getting to you, let me save the day by telling you about some of the best Waco public pools. Whether you’re looking for a low-stress experience or want a way to tire out the kids, I’m positive you’ll find your new favorite place!
Playdium Pool was built in 1945 as a way to give families a place to cool down. The pool remains family-owned and provides over 1.2 million gallons of clean, crisp water. It’s divided so smaller kids have a shallow section where they can splash around without worrying about big waves. The facilities contain a high dive, a fountain, and a splash pad for younger kids.
They have a changing room and a cleaning station that lets you rinse off the chlorine before getting in the car. They’ll regularly bring in live music for entertainment throughout the summer evenings. They also have concession stands so that you can refuel throughout the day. You can visit at 200 Playdium Drive, West.
The YMCA is a classic for a reason! The Waco location features a large pool that is truly ideal for families. The outdoor pool features a shallow area with a fountain and a slide fit for younger swimmers. The area stands nestled against a deeper pool where you can exercise, go for a dive, or just cool off your feet.
The inside has a lap pool open year-round. The location also has swimming lessons for children starting at six months, so you can ensure your little one stays safe all summer! You can check them out at 6800 Harvey Drive.
With playgrounds, disc golf, and fishing, McGregor Parks always gives us plenty to do throughout the summer. The parks’ on-site Amsler Aquatic Center provides a standard outdoor pool that’s wonderful for the hottest of days. The pool regularly hosts group activities, including senior swims and pool parties.
Because they often host school groups, it’s always a good idea before heading out to check their Facebook group and ensure they’re not closed to the public. If a pool feels just a bit overwhelming for your child, McGregor Parks also recently added a splash pad so you can have a more laid-back experience. The Amsler Aquatic Center resides at 110 Red Oak in McGregor.
If you need the perfect way to escape the heat, grab a towel and check out these spots ASAP! With these Waco public pools, you can have the time of your life staying cool.
